- Tips for showing
- Beans, runner, French , broad etc.– uniform colour & size with portion of stalk
- Beetroot – even size not too big, main root left on, careful if removing small side roots
- Cabbages – Solid head, clean, remove only minimum number of outer leaves
- Carrots – Blemish free, equal size, cut off foliage but leave 75mm.,leave root intact
- Cauliflowers calabrese etc. – not discoloured, loose or uneven head. Trim stalk- 75mm ,trim leaves
- to same height as cauli curd.
- Courgettes – uniform size and not too long
- Cucumbers – outdoor grown will be shorter than greenhouse, remove any sign of flower head
- Garlic – reduce stem to 25mm remove roots and all soil
- Lettuce – leave roots intact
- Onions – Tie tops neatly, trim roots
- Peas- 25mm stalk
- Radish – foliage 30mm
- Rhubarb – cut off foliage leave 75mm from start of stalk
- Tomatoes – no green round calyx which should be left on
