  • Tips for showing
  • Beans, runner, French , broad etc.– uniform colour & size with portion of stalk
  • Beetroot – even size not too big, main root left on, careful if removing small side roots
  • Cabbages – Solid head, clean, remove only minimum number of outer leaves
  • Carrots – Blemish free, equal size, cut off foliage but leave 75mm.,leave root intact
  • Cauliflowers calabrese etc. – not discoloured, loose or uneven head. Trim stalk- 75mm ,trim leaves
  • to same height as cauli curd.
  • Courgettes – uniform size and not too long
  • Cucumbers – outdoor grown will be shorter than greenhouse, remove any sign of flower head
  • Garlic – reduce stem to 25mm remove roots and all soil
  • Lettuce – leave roots intact
  • Onions – Tie tops neatly, trim roots
  • Peas- 25mm stalk
  • Radish – foliage 30mm
  • Rhubarb – cut off foliage leave 75mm from start of stalk
  • Tomatoes – no green round calyx which should be left on
